Bronx Science, Clinton win fourth straight Bronx PSAL indoor championships

DeWitt Clinton and Bronx Science kept their streaks alive.

The Governors took care of Bronx Science by a wide margin of 130-98 for a fourth straight PSAL Bronx girls indoor title at the Armory on Tuesday. Columbus was third with 48 points.

On the boys side Bronx Science bested Harry Truman 112-89 and John F. Kennedy was third with 86 points.

Marlena Wright placed first in the 600 in 1:43.36 and Taniecia Freckleton won the 1000 in 3:27.12 for Clinton. Brittany Adams was second in the 1500 in 5:31.70 and Janet Perez (5:32.53) was third behind Bronx Science’s Lea Legardeur’s time of 5:16.70.

Legardeur also won the 3000 with a mark of 11:23.36 and Adams was second in 11:45.80. Ethanity Dunn home the triple jump crown for the Governors with a leap of 36 feet, 8 inches.

Clinton took home the 4 x 800 title when the team of Adams, Freckleton, Felicia Walker and Monique Beckford posted a time of 11:01.09. The squad of Marlena Wright, Shavon Fields, Sashani Skervin and Betsey Alvarez were first in the 4×400 in 4:35.10. Desiree Gordon was second in the shot put with a toss of 34 feet, 11.5 inches behind Evander Childs’ Tianna Wright’s mark of 34-08.50.

Taft’s Kimberly Bailey took home the 55 dash title with a time of 7.24 and the 300 crown in 41.42. Treasure Glymph won the 55 hurdles in 8.80 and the high jump with a leap of 5-01. Columbus’ Brittany Okon was first in the long jump in 17-01.5. Bronx Science’s Aimy Yu was the 1500 race walk champ with a time of 7:53.47.

On the boys side, Bronx Science swept the top six spots in the 3200 with Samuel Maeglin winning the race with a time of 11:35.41. Their team of Joseph Ledger, Andrew Rock, Artjom Plaunov and Jackson Finio took home the 4 x 800 crown in 8.38.25. Ledger and John Bahr DeStefano were second and third in the 1000 respectively with time of 2:39.07 and 2:45.11.

Columbus’ Strymar Livingston won the race with a mark of 2:30.21 and was second in the 1600 to Bronx Science’s Pier Berkmans (4:33.57) in a time of 4:33.57,

Clinton’s Jeremiah Obeng Agyapong was first in the 600 with a time of 1:23.77 and placed second in the 300 in 35.21 behind Truman’s Jason Tomlinson (35.21). Truman’s Kevin Mathis Jr. took the 55 dash title with a time of 6.64 and Rudje Beckford of DeWitt Clinton won the 55 hurdles in 7.89.

Truman’s squad of Tomlinson, Mathis Jr., Dale Orlan Wilson and Shane Cherry were victorious in the 4 x 400 relay in 3:31.81. Teammate Michael Hall was the high jump champ with a leap of 6-00 and George Samuel won the long jump with a mark of 19-10.00.

Lehman’s Fillan Lee took first in the triple jump in 41-05.50 and Rahman Adekoya of Kennedy was the pole vault champ (11-03.00). DeMario Roye won gold in the shot put with a toss of 41-10.00.
