Grimm aide arrested for ‘assaulting’ son

The director of community relations for Rep. Michael Grimm was arrested for getting violent with his 14-year-old son after the teen was found in possession of alleged marijuana, The Post has learned.

Liam Ambrose McCabe, 33, was charged with misdemeanor assault for Friday’s incident at the Math and Science Exploratory School on Dean Street in Boerum Hill, sources said.

Grimm suspended McCabe today and issued this statement: “These are serious charges that have not been taken lightly. Liam has been a hard-working member of my staff; however, I have suspended his employment in my office until the results of the official investigation become known.”

McCabe had been called to the school around 12:30 p.m. for a disciplinary matter regarding his boy, Rory, sources said.

After being told that his kid had been caught with possible pot, McCabe began pulling and yanking on his son’s right arm, causing bruising, sources said.

The blowup happened in front of cops, who had to restrain the enraged McCabe, sources added.

McCabe was handcuffed and his son refused medical attention.

McCabe was arraigned Saturday night and released without bail.

Grimm recently made headlines after The Post broke the story about a mailbox being stolen from in front of his New Springville home sometime between Feb. 6 and 7.
