Yankees GM says personal struggles ‘not going to affect my job’

Brian Cashman just wants to talk baseball.

The beleaguered Yankee general manager tiptoed around his stalking-and-shakedown sex mess today, telling reporters at the team’s spring training camp that the scandal is “not going to affect my job.”

The baseball bigwig was more interested in discussing the weight fluctuations of beefy ace CC Sabathia and threats from Tampa Bay, Boston and Toronto to the team’s American League East title.

In a lengthy question-and-answer session in Tampa, Cashman said he would remain focused on his job even as the details of his struggles at home are aired in public.

“I have a professional life and a personal life, and I will continue to do the job to the best of my ability like I always have,” said Cashman, who called the last few weeks of his life “difficult.”

Cashman’s marriage collapsed last month after a busty Brit with a history of harassing ex-lovers was charged with stalking and harassing the 44-year-old father of two.

Louise Meanwell remains locked up on Rikers Island for allegedly squeezing $6,000 out of Cashman for an unspecified medical procedures.

A day after Meanwell’s Feb. 2 arrest in Manhattan, Cashman’s wife, Mary, filed for divorce.

Since then, Meanwell has spilled the beans on her alleged affair with Cashman, going so far as to tell The Post that he was “surprisingly” good in bed.

But Cashman insisted that he’s focused on baseball – and will let others worry about his standing with the Yankees.

“Those answers are for somebody else,” he said. “It’s not going to affect my job.

“Out of respect for others, I don’t want to speak for anybody else.”

Yankee officials have said Cashman is “100% totally supported” by the team – even as Meanwell’s stalking case continues to make headlines.

Meanwell has said she and Cashman were romantically linked for months, after he first made his move in 2006 by telling her at a Boston hotel that she was “the most beautiful thing” he had ever laid eyes on.

Several people – including Cashman and his estranged wife – have orders of protection against Meanwell, who has a long list of ex-lovers who say she’s a stalker.
