Knicks’ Lin tells Nets’ Humphries fans wrong to boo

There’s one thing that Knicks fans and Jeremy Lin may disagree about.

Lin has become an instant fan favorite with his unbelievable play that has spurred the Knicks to eight wins in 10 games. But the point guard thinks his adoring supporters, and crowds around the league, are a little Linsane for booing Nets forward Kris Humphries.

The Garden crowd jeered Humprhies consistently throughout the Nets’ 100-92 win over the Knicks on Monday night. After the game, Humphries said he ran into Lin in the tunnel outside the locker room.

“He’s a really nice guy,” Humphries said of Lin on ESPN Radio. “He just said, ‘Hey, I don’t know why they boo you, but I think it’s crap. You are playing really well, and stuff.’F

“That was nice of him to say. He’s a really nice guy, competitor. It’s nice to see great things happen for nice people.”

Humphries said he met Lin at an autograph session at last year’s All-Star weekend in Los Angeles.

The Knicks fans are not alone in their distaste for Humphries, who has been heckled throughout the season after his relationship and marriage to Kim Kardashian became tabloid news and was featured on her reality show. A marriage that is nearing an end, as she filed for divorce from Humphries on Halloween.

“I love a hostile environment,” said Humphries, who had 14 points and 14 rebounds in Tuesday’s win.

“There’s nothing better than sending 19,000 people home upset from The Garden. We love that. People are out there getting rowdy whether they are booing me or not. To get a win like that felt great. Sometimes you just gotta mess with the crowd back.”
