LOS ANGELES — Lindsay Lohan is preparing to play Elizabeth Taylor in the upcoming Lifetime biopic about the late screen legend, TMZ reported Tuesday.
Lohan is diligently watching Taylor’s old movies to get into character for the project “Liz and Dick,” expected to begin production in late March, sources told the celebrity website.
The cable movie will follow Taylor’s rocky romance with her on and off screen partner Richard Burton.
The actress is “obsessing over getting the part right” sources said, after she reportedly beat actress Megan Fox for the coveted role portraying the “Cleopatra” star.
Lifetime has not yet made an official casting announcement for the project. When asked if Lohan, 25, would indeed play the Hollywood screen siren, a rep for the network told NewsCore, “We don’t have any news to confirm at this time.”
Filming for the Taylor biopic would begin only after Lohan completes her community service work, part of her probation for pleading no contest to misdemeanor theft in May 2010.
Taylor died in March 2011 at age 79.
