Closer Cole to enter Fordham Hall

Bob Cole was raised to love baseball and Fordham, his two prized possessions — his grandfather’s signed Brooklyn Dodger contract, and a ball his Fordham graduate father gave him signed by the 1936 Yankees — displayed in his china cabinet. He can add a third tomorrow when he’s inducted into Fordham’s Hall of Fame.

Cole was the closer on the Rams’ Metropolitan Conference championship team in 1978, and before their basketball game against LaSalle he will be part of a seven-member class inducted into the school’s athletic Hall of Fame — a group that includes Vince Lombardi, Wellington Mara, Frankie Frisch and Vin Scully.

“They had alumni Father-Son day. I was 6; since then I knew what college I wanted to go to before I knew what high school I wanted,’’ said Cole, Senior VP of Media for News America Marketing.
