Where mayoral candidates stand

The Post contacted the top prospects in next year’s mayoral election, and asked where they stand on the release of teacher ratings — a move vehemently opposed by the politically powerful teachers union.

Comptroller John Liu, Public Advocate Bill de Blasio, Council Speaker Christine Quinn and Manhattan Borough President Scott Stringer all responded. Former Comptroller Bill Thompson, was out of town and did not respond yesterday.

Would the candidates side with the powerful United Federation of Teachers — whose manpower and financial muscle can help elect a mayor — or the parents and the public?
