Nets’ Lopez hurt again

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The Nets might have to put any impending trade for Dwight Howard on hold.

Brook Lopez, in just his fifth appearance following a pre-season broken foot, is on the shelf again after rolling his right ankle in the third quarter of the Nets’ 104-101 victory over the Bobcats last night. Lopez went for X-rays — no results were provided — and will have additional tests today.

“He rolled his ankle really bad. He’s going to get re-evaluated,” Nets coach Avery Johnson said of Lopez, who left the arena on crutches. “Just a tough situation for him, especially coming back from the foot situation. So we’re going to get him checked out.”

Lopez will accompany the team on its flight to Miami for tomorrow night’s game with the Heat.

“We’re going to call Billy [general manager King] and we’ll figure out what we’re going to do next,” Johnson said.
