Rolex ‘thief’ done in by own ID

A Manhattan man was busted after he presented legitimate identification while pawning a $5,000 stolen Rolex watch at a Midtown jewelry shop, police sources said yesterday.

Joseph Dargan, 28, stole the watch and a pocketbook from a 19-year-old New Jersey woman in a hotel room at noon last April 30, cops said.

The night before, the young woman had met Dargan at a club, where someone gave her a drink that caused her to fall unconscious, sources said.

She later woke up naked and alone in the hotel room.

While checking jewelry stores, detectives ran across Dargan’s name, the sources said. He was charged with possession of stolen property.

After an investigation, cops decided not to charge him with any other crime against the woman.
