Student found dead in Syracuse University dorm room

SYRACUSE — A student was reportedly found dead today in a residence hall at Syracuse University.

The circumstances surrounding the student’s death were not immediately clear, WSYR-TV reported.

An ambulance was reportedly seen leaving DellPlain Hall on the university’s campus, and approximately a dozen police cars were also at the scene.

According to the station, Syracuse Police Sgt. Tom Connellan said authorities do not believe the death was criminal in nature. Police also said they do not believe there is any danger to the public.

Police declined to release the student’s identify until the family was notified.

Students who live in the dorm said police were preventing them from entering the residence hall’s first floor, but said residents of other floors were permitted to go to their rooms, WSYR reported.
