Shhh! on O’Care birthday

WASHINGTON — Yesterday marked the second anniversary of ObamaCare, but there were no celebrations at the White House marking President Obama’s signature accomplishment.

“I saw the president down at the White House,” jabbed Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell yesterday.

“I’m a little surprised but there wasn’t a birthday cake to celebrate the second anniversary of ObamaCare.”

It was just one of many sarcastic shots from Republicans trying to call attention to the health law, which has become a political albatross for Obama’s re-election, and will be the subject of three days of high-stakes hearings in the Supreme Court next week on the constitutionality of the law.

GOP presidential front-runner Mitt Romney, whose Massachusetts law, dubbed RomneyCare, was partly a model for the nation’s health law, also commented.

“You’ll note the White House is not celebrating ObamaCare today,” he said.

“Most Americans want to get rid of it and we’re among those Americans.”

The White House put out a report yesterday noting that 2.5 million more young adults have health insurance, 5 million people covered by Medicare saved an average of $635 each on the cost of drugs, and insurance companies can’t raise premiums by more than 10 percent a year.
