Jets should take a pass on QB who can’t

The Jets should consider trading for Tim Tebow only if they are looking for a new starter at team chaplain, no disrespect intended.

If he is truly a miracle worker, perhaps all it would take is a little Tebowing inside the Atlantic Health Jets Training Center to bring Mark Sanchez and Santonio Holmes together once and for all.

Tebow-mania inside Rex Ryan’s Big Top?

God no!

JETS WANT TO ADD TEBOW: SOURCE

Look, there is so much to like about the guy, unless, of course, you are in the camp that sees him as a polarizing figure. He’s a class act. He’s a winner. He embraces being a role model and an inspiration.

He’s just not an NFL quarterback.

And because of his very public religious beliefs, because he infused his teammates with universal belief and carried the Broncos to the playoffs last season against all odds and captivated America, once he is traded, he will carry with him a legion of worshippers and naysayers wherever he lands.

The last thing Ryan needs, the last thing Sanchez needs, the last thing that fragile locker room needs, is another New York media-frenzied distraction.

If John Elway thought Tebow was a Super Bowl quarterback, Peyton Manning wouldn’t have been standing there yesterday as a $96 Million Bronco talking about bringing a Super Bowl back to Denver.

Because New York is the world’s melting pot perhaps it means Tebow would be welcomed here more readily than most places. I have a feeling most Jets fans would be Tebowing on Joe Namath’s front lawn if Tebow were to throw enough touchdown passes or score enough touchdowns.

Let me be clear: I have absolutely no problem with Tebow, the God-fearing quarterback. I don’t think he’s a phony. As far as I’m concerned, he can sermonize as much as he likes.

I have a big problem with Tebow the NFL quarterback — now and in the future.

And, as I understand it, he wants to keep playing quarterback. The Jets just signed Drew Stanton as backup quarterback. They used a seventh-round pick a year ago on Greg McElroy. Now they would be willing to surrender a fifth-round pick on Tebow?

Elway, by shopping him, either believes Tebow only can function in a read option offense or would create a circus atmosphere around Manning, and neither is a good omen.

Woody Johnson says the Jets passed on Peyton Manning? And now they would rather not pass on Tim Tebow? Long-suffering Jets fans might want to start Tebowing immediately.
