Man dies from gunshot wounds after jumping into stranger’s car

A mortally wounded man who was shot multiple times in Queens, turned to a random stranger parking nearby for help, but after the horrified woman dashed away, the bleeding victim briefly hopped into her car only to crash after succumbing to his injuries, police sources said.

Tesfari Davis, 32, was blasted in the neck and leg in Corona when he asked a woman inside an Acura sedan to drive him to a hospital at around 8:30 p.m. Sunday, sources said. The woman fled from the vehicle and Davis got behind the wheel but plowed into another car on Horace Harding Expressway near Junction Boulevard, police sources said.

When the driver of the vehicle got out to inspect the damage and to exchange insurance information, he saw Davis convulsing in his car.

EMS responding to a 911 call rushed the victim to Elmhurst Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Davis has an arrest history, which includes busts for criminal possession of a weapon and criminal sale of a controlled substance, police sources said.

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
