Man carjacks vehicle to get to hospital but dies after accident en route

A mortally wounded man carjacked a vehicle to race to a Queens hospital — but got into a car accident on the way and later died, police sources said today.

Tesfari Davis, 32, had been shot in the neck and leg when he staggered over to a woman who was parking her Acura in Corona around 8:30 p,.m. Sunday and ordered her to drive him to a hospital, sources said.

The horrified woman darted out of her car in a panic. Davis then jumped inside and took off.

He didn’t make it very far.

Minutes later, he plowed into another car on Horace Harding Expressway near Junction Boulevard, police sources said.

When the other driver got out to inspect the damage and to exchange insurance information, he saw Davis bleeding profusely and convulsing in the driver’s seat, sources said.

EMS rushed the victim to Elmhurst Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Davis has an arrest history which includes busts for criminal possession of a weapon and criminal sale of a controlled substance, police sources said.

Cops are investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
