A Queens woman admitted to killing her newborn baby girl by dumping her in a trashcan after giving birth in a hospital restroom.
Dawa Lama, 23, told Queens Supreme Court Justice Lenora Gerald that she delivered her daughter, Ming-Mar Gurang, in the bathroom of Elmhurst Hospital on May 10 as she was waiting for a scheduled pre-natal appointment.
The girl was later found by a security guard and later died from brain damage and other injuries.
Lama, pleaded guilty to first degree manslaughter and will be sentenced to 10 years in prison. The Nepal native will then be deported.
Had she been convicted at trial, she would have faced up to 25 years behind bars.
