The Deepsea Challenger submersible begins its first 2.5-mile (4-km) test dive off the coast of Papua New Guinea. The submersible is the centerpiece of the Deepsea Challenge, a joint scientific project by explorer and "Titanic" filmmaker James Cameron, the National Geographic Society and Rolex to conduct deep-ocean research.

The cruise ship Costa Concordia on its' side off the Island of Giglio, Italy. Scuba divers brought to shore two of the five bodies discovered last week in the wreck of the Costa Concordia. The five bodies - which have yet to bed identified - were located on Thursday, said the Civil Protection department, which is responsible for rescue services in Italy.

Tebow, traded from the Denver Broncos last week, will be the team's backup quarterback according to Jets head coach Rex Ryan. Tebow, the 2007 Heisman Trophy winner, started 11 games in 2011 for Denver and finished with a 7-4 record as a starter. He led the Broncos to a playoff overtime win against the Pittsburgh Steelers in the first round before eventually losing to the New England Patriots in the next round.
