New app lets you keep racy Snapchat messages

The whole point of Snapchat is that your messages disappear moments after the recipients view them.

But a new app called SnapHack compromises that feature. SnapHack, which launched Sunday night, lets you save Snapchat messages and view them again later, Business Insider reports.

SnapHack is now available to download from the App Store, where it costs 99 cents. It’s simple enough to use. You log in using your Snapchat username, then open any new messages.

Importantly, for the messages to be saved, you have to access them for the first time in SnapHack.

“Save your snapchats to your camera roll without the sender knowing and view them as many times as you like,” the app’s description in the App Store reads.

The new app is bad news for Snapchat, which operates on the premise that messages are deleted just seconds after they’re opened. This allows users to send private, embarrassing and sometimes explicit messages without any fear that unwelcome eyes will view them.

There is now no way to be sure those messages aren’t secretly being saved.
