Jets lose Goodson for year with torn ACL/MCL

Jets running back Mike Goodson is out for the remainder of the season after tearing the ACL and MCL in his left knee. Goodson announced the injury on Twitter.

Goodson suffered the injury in the fourth quarter on Geno Smith’s second interception of the game. Goodson was tackling Steelers linebacker Lawrence Timmons when he collided with teammate Brian Winters.

This ends a tumultuous first season with the Jets for Goodson, who was arrested in May, missed all of training camp and was suspended by the NFL for the first four games of the season for violating the league’s substance-abuse policy.

During the two games he played, Goodson gave the Jets a dynamic they have lacked: speed. He finished with just 61 yards on seven carries, but looked as if he could be a big factor going forward.

The Jets, who fell to 3-3 with Sunday’s loss to the Steelers, signed Goodson to a three-year, $6.9 million deal in March.
