Well, he’s got the pagan vote

A Queens councilman who is a practicing pagan is expected to announce tomorrow that he’ll seek retiring Democratic Rep. Gary Ackerman’s congressional seat, GOP sources said.

Republican Dan Halloran would join Councilwoman Liz Crowley, Assemblyman Rory Lancman and Assemblywoman Grace Meng, all Democrats, in the race.

The Queens GOP yesterday endorsed Halloran, and its executive director, Robert Hornak, addressed the candidate’s paganism.

“This as an issue of religious freedom,” he said. “If they want to attack him for that, they can go ahead.”

Queens GOP Chairman Phil Ragusa added: “Dan has delivered . . . at City Hall and will be equally effective in Washington.”

Halloran did not return a request for comment.
