East End rentals sizzling

Hamptons rentals are making a splash once again.

Buoyed by strong numbers on Wall Street and foreign cash, blue-chip rentals are being gobbled up for the 2012 summer season, local brokers told The Post.

“The rentals came in earlier than they have in almost a decade,” said Prudential Douglas Elliman broker Lori Barbaria, who recently rented out one mansion for $450,000, the priciest summer deal of her career.

“There is definitely a sense of recovery. Maybe it’s a false sense, but it is definitely there.”

After years of sputtering rental seasons, brokers have had little trouble attracting signatures for luxury spreads, many of which start at a whopping $200,000 for three months.
