CHSAA/Independent softball roundup: Liharevic, Villa tops Hill

St. John Villa picked up its first win of the season.

Sevdiana Liharevic scattered five hits, struck out five and walked none in a 4-0 win over St. Joseph Hill in CHSAA Staten Island softball Monday at South Beach. Sam Long provided the game’s first run with an RBI single that brought home Arianna Trembone and Jordan Cunningham capped the scoring with an RBI double for the Bears (1-2). Tatiana Perone had two hits for St. Joseph Hill (1-2).

CHSAA BROOKLYN/QUEENS AA

Archbishop Molloy 17, Christ the King 2: Victoria Goldbach struck out 11, collected three hits and had three RBIs for Archbishop Molloy (3-1). Taylor Moss homered twice and drove in five and Dana Moss was 2-for-2 with an RBI. Fallon McCarthy added a two-run home run.

ACIS

Packer 21, Berkeley Carroll 12: Isabelle McCarthy was 4-for-5 with five RBIs and four runs scored for Packer. Shannon Rhodes went 3-for-3 with five runs scored and a solo home run.

NON-LEAGUE

St. Joseph by the Sea 2, Bishop George Ahr (N.J.) 0: Jackie Cautela scattered three hits, struck out four and delivered and an RBI single. She and Kristy Colangelo drove in Stephanie Abolt and Vanessa Jioia in the second inning for the game’s only two runs. Christina Tufano made a diving catch in center field with the bases loaded and threw out a runner at third.
