A large brush fire is burning along the NJ Turnpike near the Meadowlands sports complex in Carlstadt, New Jersey.
Large plumes of black smoke can be seen from a distance.

The AP reported that firefighters were also battling a separate fire not far away in East Rutherford.
Dry conditions and strong winds were believed to have been a contributing factor to several brush fires that broke out in the tristate this week.
It was not immediatly clear what sparked the fire near the Meadowlands.
