The “American Pie” cast returns to theaters this weekend in “American Reunion,” the fourth installment in the raunchy comedy series. Since the first film hit theaters, none of the cast members, pictured here at the “American Reunion” premiere in last month, have become major stars in their own right. However, some have gone on to successful TV and film careers, while others are best known for their troubled behavior or being “the guy who had sex with a pie.”
Before you see what Jim, Stifler and co. are up to these days, take a look back at how the cast’s other movies have fared at the box office, and who could use a big slice of “American Reunion’s” profits.

Jason Biggs has said himself that he’s probably still best known as “the guy who had sex with a pie” in the original “American Pie” film. But since he got amorous with a pastry on the big screen, he’s starred in several well-known films including “Loser,” “Saving Silverman” and “Jersey Girl.” While none of these movies were wildly successful, and some didn’t even recoup their production budget in worldwide ticket revenues, Biggs may be getting better with time. His latest starring role was opposite Dane Cook and Kate Hudson in “My Best Friend’s Girl,” which hit theaters in 2008, five years after the last “Pie” film. That movie made nearly $42 million worldwide on a $20 million budget.

Biggs’ on-screen wife Alyson Hannigan has stuck mostly to TV since the first “American Pie” film was released, playing memorable characters in “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” and “How I Met Your Mother” (a scene from which is pictured above). She’s only starred in two major films, the most recent of which was 2006’s “Date Movie.”

Tara Reid is probably better known these days for her scandalous behavior, including posing for photographers with her breast exposed at this birthday party for P. Diddy in 2004. But, while the “American Pie” movies were still warm, Reid was a hot commodity in Hollywood, starring in hits like “Van Wilder” and “My Boss’ Daughter” as well as the memorable flop “Josie and the Pussycats.” Reid hasn’t starred in a major movie, apart from “American Reunion,” since 2003.

Chris Klein was another hot commodity while the “American Pie” movies were still in the oven, starring in heavily-hyped but commercially disappointing films like “Here on Earth” and “Say It Isn’t So.” But, he hasn’t made a major movie since 2006, and his most successful non-“Pie” product was the ensemble film “We Were Soldiers.” –By Hilary Lewis
