Prince Harry enters William, Kate in next year’s London Marathon

LONDON — The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will run the London Marathon next year, according to Prince Harry.

The British royal jokingly entered William and Catherine during a televised interview before handing out the medals at the 2012 race finish line on The Mall in central London on Sunday.

When asked whether he had ambitions to run the 26.2 miles himself, Harry told the BBC, “I have been trying to get myself a place for years. I can’t get myself a place. What do you have to do?”

But he added, “What’s fantastic is that my brother and his wife will be doing it next year, I think.”

The prince, who is third in line to the British throne after his father, Prince Charles, and his older brother, admitted that Prince William was entirely unaware of his supposed entry in the 2013 race.

But he said, “He’s going to have to [run] now, isn’t he?”

More than 37,500 entrants registered for the 2012 race, which starts in Greenwich, south London, and finishes within view of Buckingham Palace on The Mall.
