Finally! Gas prices drop for first time in 2012

CAMARILLO, Calif. — The average price of gasoline in the US fell this month, for the first time this year, according to a Lundberg Survey report posted Sunday.

The average price of regular gasoline was $3.91 in the two-week period ending April 20, a drop of five cents from two weeks earlier.

The Camarillo, Calif.-based company surveys the price of gasoline at over 2,500 gas stations across the US every two weeks to compile its report.

“Gasoline prices have slipped, and if crude-oil prices remain stable, then we may see another 5 cent to 10 cent decline at the pump,” the survey’s president, Trilby Lundberg, told Bloomberg News.

Gas prices peaked in the US on April 6 at an average of $3.96 a gallon.

Chicago had the highest average price of gas in the nation at $4.26 per gallon while Tulsa, Okla., had the lowest at $3.52, according to the survey.
