Shot cop truly blessed

A hero cop who miraculously survived a point-blank gunshot to the back of the head in January celebrated yesterday with the christening of his baby daughter — and help from Timothy Cardinal Dolan.

Dolan baptized Maeve Marie Brennan, the 5-month-old daughter of Police Officer Kevin Brennan and his wife, Janet, in a private chapel after Mass at St. Patrick’s Cathedral in Manhattan.

“Whatever pains I had, they went away today,” Brennan, who had a .38-caliber slug removed from the base of his skull, told The Post.

“I can’t believe that [the cardinal] did this. He’s so charismatic. He’s a celebrity. He’s a movie star. But he’s also a gentleman.’’

The Brooklyn cop was shot Jan. 31, allegedly by gangbanger Luis “Baby” Ortiz.

After the service, Dolan said, “Our gratitude toward God is on steroids today, not only for little Maeve Marie but for Kevin’s recovery.”

The group later celebrated at the New Hyde Park, LI, restaurant K.Pacho, which donated the meal.

“This was such a special day . . . because the cardinal made it so personal and touching,” said PBA trustee John Flynn.
