Man fighting for life after hit and run in Queens

A man is fighting for his life after a hit-and-run driver smashed into him on a Queens street this evening, cops said.

The 50-year-old pedestrian was struck in Woodhaven by a 2003 Infinity as he crossed Woodhaven Boulevard, near Jamaica Avenue, about 7 p.m., according to NYPD Lt. John Grimpel.

EMS rushed him to Jamaica Hospital, where he is in very critical condition.

Police apprehended the 59-year-old driver a few blocks away on 91st Avenue, near Woodhaven Boulevard, and took him into custody, authorities said.

Charges are pending.
