‘McDreamy’ to the rescue as Patrick Dempsey saves car crash driver in Malibu

MALIBU, Calif. — It’s a swoon-worthy moment every female fan of “Grey’s Anatomy” dreams of — being saved by the doctor with the perfect hair, “McDreamy.”

Patrick Dempsey, who plays neurosurgeon Dr. Derek Shepherd in the popular medical drama, got a chance to put his TV life-saving skills to the test when he witnessed a car crash right outside his Malibu pad, entertainment news site TMZ reported Friday.

The 46-year-old actor was home at about 5:00pm local time Tuesday when a young driver cruising down the street lost control of his Mustang, causing the vehicle to roll and crash smack in the middle of Dempsey’s front yard.

According to TMZ, Dempsey responded “with lightning speed,” dashing to the scene with a crowbar to pry the teenager out of the vehicle. Us Weekly said Dempsey ran out his house with a fire extinguisher.

Either way, the dreamy TV doctor helped the driver out of the wrecked vehicle.

The teen suffered a concussion but no serious injuries.

In an interview with Italian Vanity Fair published last year, Dempsey said he would not be returning after the eighth season of “Grey’s Anatomy.”

The last few episodes of the eighth season see several residents contemplating careers away from the fictional Seattle Grace hospital.
