Baseball roundup: Cardozo blanks LIC as Luk tosses a no-no

Calvin Luk tossed a seven-inning no-hitter, struck out five and walked five as Cardozo blanked Long Island City, 6-0, in PSAL Queens crossover baseball action.

The senior righthander earned his third win, Connor Doyle walked twice, drove in a run and scored once, Keith Rogers had two hits and Chris Campbell doubled and scored a run for the Judges (9-0), who lead Queens A East. LIC is now 5-4 in Queens A West.

John Adams 4, Newtown 0: Anderson DeLeon tossed a one-hit shutout and struck out eight for his third league win and Jeffrey Valera had two hits and scored twice for Adams (8-1), which takes over the top spot in Queens A West. Newtown is now 7-2.

Stuyvesant 10, FDA 0: Michael Sheldon had two hits, scored three runs and drove in a run, Erick Wong scored twice and Evan Lubin struck out three in four shutout innings of one-hit ball for Stuyvesant (6-3), which plated five, first-inning runs, in Manhattan A West. FDA is 1-7 in Manhattan A East.

Susan Wagner 7, Port Richmond 0: Anthony Alberghina had had two hits, two RBIs and scored a run, Matt Fazio also drove in two runs, he also fanned 12 in a complete-game, two-hitter and Michael Bernstein added two hits, scored a run and drove in another for Wagner (6-6) in Staten Island A. Port Richmond is now 3-9.

CHSAA CLASS AA

All Hallows 3, Archbishop Stepinac 2: Jason Reyes gave up one earned run on three hits and struck out six in seven innings for All Hallows (5-3). Stephen Alemais had a solo home run and Lance Montano had two hits. Julian Ponce gave up two earned runs on five hits in six innings for Stepinac (5-3).

St. Raymond 15, Mount St. Michael 0: Julian Monserrate and Martin Marrero combined on a five-inning, no-hitter, Jordan Nunez homered, had three hits and four RBIs, Cheyenne Reyes had two RBIs and Leo Bravo added two hits and two RBIs for St. Raymond (7-2), which has won seven in a row. The Mount is now 1-8.

IVY PREP LEAGUE

Poly Prep 1, Riverdale 0: Andrew Zapata struck out 11 and allowed just a single hit as he went the distance for his third win and Nick Caso drove in the game’s lone run for Poly Prep (9-3, 7-1), which hosts Collegiate Monday at 4:30 p.m. Riverdale (3-7, 3-6) takes on Dalton Monday at 4:30 p.m.

Horace Mann 12, Trinity 4: Elias Wacht had three hits and two RBIs, he also went five innings and allowed four runs for the win, Jesse Roth drove in three runs and Harrison Bader homered and knocked in two for Horace Mann (8-3, 6-2), which hosts Hackley Monday at 4:30 p.m. Trinity is now 0-9 overall and 0-8 in league.

PSAL CLASS B

Martin Van Buren 4, Far Rockaway 0: Philip McFarlane struck out six and allowed just three in a complete-game effort, Frank Diaz had two hits and an RBI and Eliecer Rodriguez added two hits and scored a run for Van Buren (8-1) in Queens B South. Far Rockaway is still winless at 0-10.

ACIS

St. Ann’s 5, Staten Island Academy 4: Willis Cohen struck out seven, scattered seven hits and walked three as he went the distance and Graham Dietz had three hits and scored a run for St. Ann’s (5-3, 5-1). Alex Morisano had two hits and two RBIs and Alec Freudenstein scored twice for Staten Island Academy (5-3, 3-3).

Packer Collegiate 11, Long Island Lutheran 10: Fletcher Sherrod had three hits and three RBIs, Mike Savino homered and drove in two runs, Nick Moron had two hits, scored four runs and drove in a run and Nick Morgan added two RBIs for Packer (8-4, 2-5), which meet Dwight Monday at 4:15 p.m. Nick Perovich had three hits and scored twice and David Pepe had two hits and two RBIs for LuHi.
