Health aide stole 800G

A crooked home health aide was found guilty yesterday of ripping off an elderly disabled woman by having her write hundreds of checks for everyday things — like “ice cream” and “laundry” — which she then deposited into her own bank account.

Queens jurors nailed Bronx resident Jackie Pokuwaah, 53, on all charges for the $800,000 check-writing scheme, which began in 2007 and lasted until she was arrested in April 2011.

Pokuwaah convinced 86-year-old Renee Fuld to sign more than 400 checks, made payable to the defendant.

Fuld, who has no children and hasn’t heard from any relatives since her husband was buried in 1995, wrote out checks to Pokuwaah, including one for $1,700 to buy diabetic “ice cream” and others for biweekly “laundry” trips at $700 each.

Pokuwaah, who earned $81,000 a year, was found guilty of grand larceny, criminal possession of stolen property and other charges.

She faces up to 15 years in prison at her sentencing, scheduled for May 22.
