Six dead in Swiss plane crash

GENEVA — Four men and two women were killed when a small plane crashed in a field in western Switzerland, officials said.

The aircraft plunged into a field Saturday afternoon not far from a residential area in the village of Tatroz, near Fribourg, a witness told the 20min.ch website.

The aircraft departed from Lausanne Blecherette airport at 2:30 p.m. local time and traveled toward Ecuvillens Airport, in Fribourg. It flew over the village a few times before crashing around 3 p.m. local time.

A witness said he heard a boom in the sky, then saw the aircraft stall and crash into a field near some houses.

Two of the victims were found on the ground, and four were in the cockpit, police said.

There were no survivors, and the victims were not yet identified, police added.
