Lavarn “Baby Bowe” Harvell knocked out Tony Pietrantonio in Atlantic City this weekend, but it was not the outcome that had the world buzzing.
Harvell, nicknamed Baby Bowe for his resemblance to former boxer Riddick Bowe, knocked out Pietrantonio in the third round after landing a devestating right hook. In the photos from the fight, Pietrantonio’s face appears to become distorted due to the punch.
Pietrantonio was reportedly unconscious before he hit the mat and the referee stopped the fight without a count.
“A lot of people thought I hit him with a left hook, but it was a right hand,” Harvell told the Press of Atlantic City. “I felt that punch all the way up my shoulder and back, so I knew he wasn’t getting up.
“I was so excited that I did a little dance for the fans, but that was before I saw how badly he was hurt.”
