‘DWTS’ producer: ‘We are considering’ all-star show

Some of America’s favorite stars could be returning to the ballroom.

Conrad Green, executive producer of ABC’s “Dancing With The Stars,” tells The Post that conversations are indeed underway about bringing back some of the show’s best loved alumni — possibly as early as next season.

“The all star show is something we have talked about for some time and we are considering it,” he confirmed at the annual Unscripted Hitsmakers luncheon Thursday in Beverly Hills.

“But we haven’t made any decisions about it yet.”

Last week, “Extra” host — and season three runner-up — Mario Lopez let the news slip while co-hosting “Live with Kelly.”

“You know what, Kelly? They’re doing a Dancing with the Stars: All Stars this next season. They called me to do it,” he revealed.

Bringing back favorites from the show’s first 14 seasons is one way to generate some much needed buzz about the aging dance competition.

“These kind of shows rely, absolutely, on being special,” Green says. “They have to be part of the nation’s conversation if they are going to be shows that really work.

“It is hard enough to make a show special when you are on like we are, twice a year for ten weeks each time. It makes our process feel less special and there is a danger we make our audiences jaded.”

Green — whose credits also include “Big Brother” and “Popstars” — described unscripted TV as “a mature market” today.

“It feels like the only massive breakthrough show in the last three or four years has been ‘The Voice,’” he says. “It feels with reality (shows) in some ways that we are looking for ‘what is the next stage?’”

He’s not even completely sold on the reinvention of “America’s Got Talent” with new judge Howard Stern.

“There is going to be a hell of a lot of interest in the first couple of shows,” he admits. I wouldn’t be at all surprised if they get massive ratings for the first couple of shows, because he is a huge talent. (But) It will be interesting to see how he pans out. I really don’t know how he will fit on that panel.”
