Nets to wear B’klyn borough pride

The Nets will wear their borough pride across their chests.

As the Nets today unveiled their new Jay-Z-designed, black-and-white color schemes and logos for next season, team brass confided that the club’s yet-to-be revealed jerseys will be emblazoned with the word “Brooklyn” spelled in capital letters.

It’ll make the Nets the first major-league sports franchise to wear “Brooklyn” on its chest since the Dodgers fled to Los Angeles after the 1957 season.

The Nets’ new shield-shaped logo – which features the team name above a basketball with a large “B” in its center – will drape across the left side of the club’s shorts.

The new uniforms will be released in the fall, shortly before the Nets begin playing at the new Barclays Center on Flatbush Avenue.

The road look will be black with white lettering while the home jerseys will be white with black lettering.

“Jay-Z was the inspiration,” said Nets CEO Brett Yormark. “The new look is timeless and classic and we’re excited about it.”

The Post first reported in September that rap mogul Jay-Z – a part owner in the Nets and co-founder of the hip clothing line Rocawear – would design the team’s new look.

Yormark said Jay-Z pushed the austere color scheme in honor of the old New York City subway signs.

During an event at Modell’s on Flatbush Avenue that included Nets coach Avery Johnson and center Brook Lopez, team brass also revealed a second team logo that will be featured at center court of Barclays Center.

The circular logo includes an iconic “B” inside, surrounded by the words “Brooklyn New York.”

Jay-Z, who was not at the unveiling, said in a statement, “The Brooklyn Nets logos are another step we’ve made to usher the organization into a new era.”

“The boldness of the designs demonstrate the confidence we have in our new direction,” he added. “Along with our move to Brooklyn and a state-of-the-art arena, the new colors and logos are examples of our commitment to update and refine all aspects of the team.”
