Accused Oakland college shooter pleads not guilty

ALAMEDA, Calif. — The man charged with killing seven people after going on a shooting spree at a California college earlier this month pleaded not guilty Monday to charges of murder and attempted murder, KPCC-FM reported.

One L. Goh, 43, had previously said he was “deeply sorry” to the victims’ families in an interview with KPIX-TV.

He allegedly shot 10 people, seven of whom died, at Oikos University in Oakland on April 2. He was charged with seven counts of murder and three counts of attempted murder.

Police claim Goh ordered nursing students to line up in a classroom before shooting them with a .45 caliber pistol.

Goh, who was born in South Korea before moving to the United States as a boy, was studying nursing at Oikos but was asked to leave in November 2011 due to disciplinary issues. He had been in dispute with the school over the refund of his tuition, according to reports.

Police said he confessed to the shooting, revealing that he intended to shoot a school administrator but targeted students when he could not locate her.

Goh stopped eating after he was arrested and lost 20 pounds (nine kilograms) in jail, according to KPCC.

An Alameda County Sheriff’s Office spokesman said Monday that Goh had started eating again over the weekend.
