Secret Service agent mows down, kills B’klyn gran

An on-duty Secret Service agent struck and killed a pedestrian while driving in Brooklyn yesterday, law-enforcement sources said.

Parks Department custodian Maria Tripp, 47, and three relatives were picking up her grandchild along Atlantic Avenue near Ralph Avenue in Brownsville at 4:50 p.m. when the agent smashed into her.

“I saw a pool of blood,” said one stunned witness. “She was face down and there was a lot of blood.”

“She went up in the air and came down on her head,” added another witness.

Sources said that Tripp was with her 12-year-old daughter, 19-year-old nephew and her boyfriend when she was struck.

The frantic relatives tended to Tripp, the mother of five daughters, as emergency units arrived, but she was pronounced dead at Interfaith Hospital.

“She was a beautiful person,’’ said Alan Taylor, a brother of the victim.

A law-enforcement source said the agent had the light at the time of the accident, but the circumstances are still under investigation.
