Defense lawyer dressed to the whines

GUANTANAMO BAY, Cuba — She dressed to impress — al Qaeda, that is.

The loopy lawyer for 9/11 terror thug Walid bin Attash yesterday defended her decision to wear a black hajib, the traditional Muslim head garb, and a black robe during the military tribunal and her demand that other women in court do the same.

“I dress that way when I meet with my client at all times. It’s out of respect for his cultural and religious beliefs,” sniffed Washington lawyer Cheryl Bormann, 52.

She claimed a woman in the courtroom Saturday distracted her sensitive client — mastermind of the deadly 2000 bombing of the USS Cole.

“There was somebody dressed in a way that was not in keeping with my client’s religious beliefs. I will not name the individual. I will not describe what she was wearing. Suffice it to say, it was distracting,” she said.

Brig. Gen. Mark Martins, chief prosecutor, yesterday growled of Bormann’s stance, “I didn’t think it merited or deserved a response [Saturday], so I don’t think it deserves a response today.’’
