Eye-full of orange For a fierce, yet still-subtle evening look, try an orange cream eye shadow to create a modern version of the classic smoky eye. Start with a product like Make Up Forever’s Cream No. 10 ($23), and Sephora + Pantone Universe Color of the Year eyeliner set ($22, both at sephora.com) on the top and bottom lids. Then, continue with a powder to set. Keep the cheeks and lips simple with a nude, matte color. Peach pleated dress, $27.80 at foreve21.com; Badgley Mischka necklace, $458 at Henri Bendel, 712 Fifth Ave.; Gem cuffs, $148 at Henri Bendel; Betsey Johnson gem earrings, $30 at Lord & Taylor, 424 Fifth Ave.; “Beth” ring, $235 at melanieaulddesigns.com David Rosenzweig

Just – peachy lips Monochromatic doesn’t have to be boring — and the best example of that is to use natural-looking peach tones. Keep the eyes and cheeks on the lighter side by dabbing on a small amount of the same light orange shadow and applying peach lipstick, such as Revlon ColorBurst lip butter in “Tutti Frutti” ($7.49, drugstores nationwide) to make the mouth pop. To complete the flirty daytime look, add a sparkly headband. Diane von Furstenberg “Yvan” top, $585 at net-a-porter.com; 1969 Legging Jeans, $69.50 at gap.com; Marie Hayden headband, $128 at Henri Bendel David Rosenzweig

Va-va – violet eyes When an invite calls for black-tie attire, ignore the black and try a hue like violet. It’s a hard color to find in the beauty aisle, so mix a white creme shadow with purple (try Almay Intense I-Color Satin-I Kits No. 411, $7.49 at drug stores nationwide), to create a dusty, fairy-tale tone. White by Vera Wang chiffon dress, $168 at davidsbridal.com; Betsey Johnson flower bracelet, $130, and ring, $45, both at Lord & Taylor; “Watercolor Flowers” chandelier earrings, $45 at carolee.com David Rosenzweig

Pretty-in-pink cheeks Want to look like your assistant, but still act like the boss? Youthful sophisticates should try baby pink tones on the eyes and cheeks. When applying shadow to the eyes, focus on the outer corners to create a little more definition. Using the same product (try Tarina Tarantino’s “Dollskin” cheek palette, $45 at sephora.com), dust lightly on the bones in an upward motion. Peplum top, $29.95 at H&M, 1328 Broadway; floral skirt, $34.99 at Mango, 561 Broadway; necklace, $6.80 at forever21.com; Kate Spade flower earrings, $48 at Lord & Taylor; “Religieuse” silk scarf, $55 at Ladurée, 864 Madison Ave. David Rosenzweig

Blue lids and tips Blue eye shadow may seem more Cookie Monster than Baby Doll, but fear not: The color of sky is making its way back into the beauty palette this season. Reinvent it by applying a light coat of shadow (try Essence Sun Club’s palette in South Beach, $3.49) to lids. For extra fun, paint your nails using Dior Vernis polish in St. Tropez ($23 at dior.com). “Brigetta” top, $498 at Jill Stuart, 100 Greene St.; Swarovski crystal cat-eye sunglasses, $375 at Mercura, mercuranyc@gmail.com David Rosenzweig
