DA to drop charges against ‘Gentleman Groper’ because alibi checks out: lawyer

Charges against a man suspected of being the so-called “Gentleman Groper” will be dismissed tomorrow because the Manhattan DA has received evidence confirming his alibi, his lawyer said yesterday.

Karl Vanderwoude, 26, was charged with forcible touching, unlawful surveillance and sexual abuse last month after women were attacked in some of the city’s toniest neighborhoods.

But e-mails from his job confirmed he was at work during one assault and with colleagues in the West Village during another.

“A lot of people say they didn’t do it. This is the real case,” said lawyer Douglas Burns.

The DA’s Office declined to comment.
