Jets will not appear on ‘Hard Knocks’ for second time: sources

It won’t be a “Hard Knock” life for Rex & Co.

The Jets will not be featured for a second time on HBO’s all-access football series “Hard Knocks,” sources told The Post.

The Jets were approached a few weeks ago about appearing on the TV show for the second time in three years but decided against it.

The team felt it would not be wise to participate in the show this summer because new offensive coordinator Tony Sparano will be installing his offense and getting to know players, according to a league source. The Jets felt they would be better served to do that off camera. The Jets had a similar rationale in 2009 when they declined to participate because it was Rex Ryan’s first year as head coach.

“Hard Knocks” followed Ryan and the Jets during the 2010 season, highlighted by such moments as when cornerback Antonio Cromartie was unable to recall the names of his nine children (Cromartie now has 10 kids and is expecting twins).

The news of the Jets not being featured comes after Ryan expressed his desire to avoid being on the show again, opting to steer clear of the circus-type atmosphere the show brings, especially following last season’s drama and the offseason trade for Tim Tebow.

Team owner Woody Johnson reportedly was in favor of the Jets opening their training camp to HBO again this summer.
