Transgender star dies in B’klyn blaze

A good Samaritan helped save lives at an early-morning Brooklyn fire yesterday that killed a popular transgender diva known as the “Puerto Rican Beyoncé.”

“Somebody [from the street] woke us up,” said grateful resident Lucretia Isaacs. “There was a lot of smoke, it was intense.”

But Lorena Escalera, 25, who goes by the stage name Lorena Xtravaganza, was found unconscious with burns on her body, sources said.

“Every time she got on stage, no matter the place, the crowd used to enjoy her performance,” said club manager Adolfo Diaz Estrada, 27.

It took 65 firefighters 37 minutes to extinguish the 4 a.m. blaze that started on the third floor of the four-story building, the sources said.

No one else was injured — and witnesses credited that fact to a passer-by who leapt into action.

“The guy was driving by and saw the fire,” said area resident Jeffery George, 46. “He was kicking on everyone’s door to let them know there was a fire.”

He then helped save Korey Rose, 25, Korey’s girlfriend, Princess Evans, and their 8-month-old baby, Kamden Rose, when the family got stuck on a fire escape after the ladder wouldn’t go down.

“This guy jumps on the rail and pulls it down—and he says ‘Give me the baby!’ so he got the baby and took him down the ladder. He said he was just passing by. I gave him a hug, and he just bounced,” said Korey.

“He was a Lone Ranger, a savior, just driving by.” George said.
