Woman shot in the head and killed when gunmen ambush her car in Queens

A 21-year-old woman was killed in a barrage of bullets early this morning after another car pulled up alongside the BMW she was riding in on the Grand Central Parkway in Queens and at least 10 shots were fired into her passenger side, according to police sources.

Stephanie Taveras, of Irvington, NJ, took a bullet to the head around 3:45 a.m., and the driver of her vehicle then pulled off at 82nd Street and drove her to Elmhurst Hospital, where she was pronounced dead, sources said.

Police have not released the driver’s name.

There is no known motive, but authorities are looking for a black SUV in connection to the shooting, according to police sources.

The relationship between the driver and the Taveras is unclear.
