Labor days ahead for NHL

With what seems to be a contentious oncoming labor negotiation between the players and NHL owners, Rangers union representative Brandon Dubinsky is hoping things get resolved in a timely fashion so as not to disrupt the start of next season.

“The big thing is to get a fair deal done and get a deal done,” said Dubinsky, who admitted to having a high-ankle sprain since Game 7 of the opening round against the Senators that will require six to eight weeks of rest but no surgery.

Dubinsky said he is “confident” a deal will get done this offseason, especially in light of “what a disaster last time was,” referring to the lockout that wiped out the entire 2004-05 season. The current Collective Bargaining Agreement expires on Sept. 15.
