‘Omar’ defends hip-hop pal in drug trial

The man who played President Obama’s favorite character on the HBO series “The Wire” — Omar, the drug-dealer-robbing rogue — appeared in Brooklyn federal court yesterday to support a former manager charged with drug trafficking.

Michael K. Williams (at above yesterday) told The Post about growing up in housing projects in rough East Flatbush, Brooklyn, with James “Jimmy Henchman” Rosemond, who became a hip-hop mogul and is now on trial for drug trafficking.

“A lot of people don’t end up with an office on 25th Street or appear on an HBO series. Our stories are very rare,” said the “Boardwalk Empire” actor.

“Having been through the muck and mire, I’ve had my own brush with bad choices. We had a certain camaraderie that we shared,” he said, explaining his support for Rosemond.

Rosemond is accused of running a drug empire that shipped cocaine in music cases.
