Romney hits back at Obama’s private sector comment in new video

GOP nominee-to-be Mitt Romney came out swinging at President Obama today, releasing a tough new TV ad calling the incumbent “out of touch with the middle class.”

The minute-long spot is comprised of a montage of TV news clips, reporting bad job numbers, followed by President Obama’s declaration that “the private sector’s doing fine.”

In stark black-and-white reverse lettering, the ad hits Obama: “Has there ever been a president so out of touch with the middle class?”

The White House has tried to step away from the president’s oddly-timed comments, and said voters won’t remember this controversy by November.

“In the minds of most Americans, there’s no confusion about this,” said Obama’s senior campaign manager David Axelrod told CBS’s “This Morning.”

Polls show the president holding a razor- thin lead over Romney with five months until election day.
