Thug locked up in Timoshenko murder convicted of shooting another man

A Queens thug, already locked up on weapons charges for the murder of NYPD Officer Russel Timoshenko, was convicted in the shooting of another man, a crime committed the day before the cop slay.

A jury found Robert Ellis, 38, guilty of all charges for the attempted murder and robbery of Carl Fields on July 8, 2007 on Sutphin Blvd.

“It doesn’t make me feel any better, nothing is going to bring my son back,” said Timonshenko’s mother, Tatyana, who attended the month-long trial along with several off-duty cops to show support for their fallen brother.

“This animal will be behind bars forever and that’s all that matters,” she said.

Ellis and his partner in crime, Dexter Bostic , were joyriding in a stolen Porsche from his job in Long Island when they randomly pulled up to a group of men and Bostic fired four rounds. Fields, 30, testified during the trial that a man who looked like the “Grim Reaper” shot him in the back of his left thigh and stole his cash, jewelry and car keys.

The next night, the goons along with another man, Lee Woods, drove around in a stolen vehicle in Brooklyn and were stopped by Timoshenko and his partner Officer Herman Yan. The routine traffic stop went wrong when Bostic opened fire at the cops, killing Timoshenko and injuring Yan.

Bostic and Woods are currently serving life sentences without parole for the cold-blooded murder of the young officer. Ellis was acquitted of murder charges but found guilty on weapons charges tied to the cop slay. Bostic is awaiting trial in the Fields case.

Along with witness testimony, prosecutors introduced video footage of the shooting, the robbery of the luxury vehicles, confessions from Ellis and other physical evidence to prove their case.

“I was in between the whole time, I was so emotionally drained from the whole thing, it took me a while to completely come to a guilty conclusion,” said Juror No. 10, who identified herself as “Cynthia” and was seen crying as the judge polled the panel.

Ellis , who is currently serving a 15 – year term for the gun rap, faces an additional 25 years when he is sentenced by Queens Supreme Court Justice Gregory Lasak on July 18.
