‘Gilligan’s Island’ on Broadway?

Broadway has gotten a lot of mileage out making movies into musicals — now it’s TV’s turn.

A musical of “Gilligan’s Island” is headed to Broadway, according to reports.

“It’s not intentionally campy,” says producer Dianne Fraser.

The show, written by the series’ late creator, Sherwood Schwartz, and his son, Lloyd, has in fact been kicking around since 1989, when workshop productions were first produced on the West Coast.

“It’s amazing how even kids know about it because they’ve seen it on Nick at Night,” says Fraser. “It’s still Gilligan, the bumbling sidekick [trying to] save the world. And yes, it’s all seven characters, plus an alien.”

The musical follows the shipwrecked crew of the Minnow in a mysterious encounter with a UFO, according to a report in the trade Web site deadline.com.
