MONTGOMERY, Ala. — Desmonte Leonard, wanted since Saturday over the fatal shooting of three men at an Auburn University off-campus residence, turned himself in to law enforcement late Tuesday, WSFA-TV reported.
The 22-year-old surrendered at Montgomery Federal Courthouse.
It comes a day after dozens of officers from a number of agencies surrounded a Montgomery home in which Leonard was believed to be hiding. However, when a SWAT team was sent inside he was not found.
Former Auburn football players Edward Christian and Ladarious Phillips, as well as DeMario Pitts, all aged 20, were shot dead at a party last Saturday after an argument broke out over a woman. Three others were wounded.
Leonard’s surrender follows the arrests of 18-year-old Jeremy Thomas and 41-year-old Gabriel Thomas, who were charged with misleading police about Leonard’s whereabouts.
