Palisades dad’s plea

The teen who plunged to his death from Palisades Interstate Park would still be alive if there were better safety measures in place at the north Jersey site, his father said yesterday.

“I think there should be a 7-foot fence with violations warnings; I just don’t understand,” said the grief-stricken dad, Michael Graniello.

His son John, 16, of Edgewater, NJ, accidentally fell about 250 feet to the shoreline Friday night after climbing a 4-foot chain-link fence just north of the George Washington Bridge.

“If it’s going to be open at night, it should be lit. It makes absolutely no sense I lost my son because of this,” the distraught dad said.

He was among a dozen relatives who gathered to pray near the site where John fell.
