Alec Baldwin punches photographer after getting marriage license

Hot-headed “30 Rock” star Alec Baldwin went nuts — again — this morning, allegedly punching a news photographer outside the city’s marriage license bureau.

Baldwin then took his always-simmering anger to Twitter, where he accused the photographer of almost hitting him in the face, and then making a joke in poor taste about the Trayvon Martin shooting in Florida.

The stunning incident in downtown Manhattan came after Baldwin visited the marriage license bureau with his fiancee, Hilaria Thomas.

The Daily News photographer, Marcus Santos, and an executive of the tabloid were headed to the Fifth Precinct in Manhattan to lodge a criminal complaint against Baldwin over the apparently unprovoked assault, law-enforcement sources said.

Baldwin tweeted after the confrontation, “A “photographer” almost hit me in the face with his camera this morning. ‪#allpaparazzishouldbewaterboarded”

He later tweeted: “I suppose if the offending paparazzi was wearing a hoodie and I shot him, it would all blow over…”

That is a reference to Martin, who was wearing a hoodie when he was fatally shot by neighborhood watchman George Zimmerman in Florida.

Goran Veljic, a freelance photographer, saw the frightening attack, which occurred after Baldwin went inside the marriage license bureau, and “looked mad.”

When Baldwin exited with Thomas, he spotted Santos and other photographers, and he put up his hands, he was really mad,” Veljic said.

“I don’t know why — you’re getting married, you should be happy. It was very unusual.”

“I was very surprised, he started talking with his hands, and hit one of them [a photographer] on the chin,” Veljic said.

“I was scared. I moved inside. I thought maybe he was crazy,” Veljic said.

“Maybe he’s working too much,” the shutterbug quipped. “You should be happy, you’re getting married to a beautiful lady.”

Veljic said Thomas witnessed the entire attack by her fiancee Baldwin, and looked “surprised.”

In a statement, Baldwin’s publicist Matthew Hiltzik said, “As Alec and his fiancée were leaving City Hall, a ‘civilian’ walking in front of Alec positioned himself to obstruct the view of a photographer aggressively trying to shoot the couple.

“The photographer was clearly frustrated, pushed past the bystander and assaulted Alec with his camera. There were no punches thrown, and any subsequent physical contact was simply Alec protecting himself.”
